Friends, in this blog, I will tell you the procedure for Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck and more.

The procedure is conducted in such a way that complications are bare smallest. It has been seen in previous cases with older techniques. There were major complications like – wound healing, stitches opening up, skin necrosis, flap necrosis, or the skin dying was very high.

In the new procedure, the dissection is done below the umbilicus and not above it. The skin is not cut around the umbilicus or it is not mobilized as well. With this, the complication rate is very low.

The Procedure

The tummy tuck is marked. The fluid is infiltrated for the liposuction procedure. The infiltration fluid is inserted to decrease the bleeding and to help fat come out of the marked areas. The infiltration is done in different areas like the lower, mid, and upper parts of the abdomen. Once the fluid is inserted, it needs a time of 20 – 30 minutes for the medication to take effect.

This minimizes the bleeding and good results are achieved. The procedure of inserting or putting fluid in the body is called tumescence, and the technique is called the super-wet technique. In this technique, a greater amount of fluid is inserted in comparison to the fats that need to be removed. If 2 liters of fat need to be removed then 2.5 liters of the fluid needs to be inserted inside the body.

Ports are created to perform Vasering. It is an ultrasound device for liposuction. These ports are created for Vasering, the lasering probe is inserted inside the port. Wherein the fat is emulsified and causes contraction of the superficial skin. It is very good for skin contouring and improves the results of liposuction by giving a good shape.

Vasering from the Epigastric port, which is in the upper part of the abdomen, and lasering of the flanks are done as well. This makes the Liposuction procedure easier and the shape. That is achieved after Liposuction is much better than the normal liposuction procedure. So, using the Vaser, better results can be achieved.

Once the Vasering procedure is complete, the Liposuction procedure begins wherein the fat is removed from various parts of the abdomen. Liposuction is done from the various ports; the fat can be seen dropping into the collection jar of the Vaser machine. It is important for Liposuction to be conducted from the upper abdomen to mobilize the skin and it makes the tummy tuck much easier.

Liposuction in the Linea Alba Fold to give a good shape or contour. It can also be done to create six-pack abs in individuals. The next procedure is the tummy tuck, where in excess skin is removed. Incisions are given to the lower border of the tummy tuck. Once the incision is made, the flap is raised; it stays within the limit of the ScarpasFascia. The flap is raised for Abdominoplasty or tummy tucks, after the Vasering and Liposuction procedure. It becomes a lot easier to perform the tummy tuck procedure. It becomes very easy to open the skin. The flap is moved to the naval.

The skin is then excised, and the area is at a distance of 2-3 cm below. The navel is kept intact as most of the blood flow to the skin is around the navel. The novel remains in a normal position with this technique. The extra skin flap is removed and the area is washed to stop the bleeding. The suturing of the upper and lower ends begins. The closure starts from the lateral end and come towards the median end to reduce the tension and improve the quality of the cosmetic result.

The dead space is reduced by suturing the flap with the underlying tissue. Sub-curricular stitches. The two-layered closure is followed and the area of the underlying Scarpa’s fascia is also taken to obliterate the dead space and keep the skin tight and fixed. A sub-cutaneous drain is put inside to drain out any blood or fluid.

A Compression dressing is done to make sure there is no collection inside. And post-procedure medicines like antibiotics and painkillers are prescribed for faster healing.
